Bicast leather (also known as bi-cast leather, bycast leather, or PU leather, sometimes described as split leather) is a material made with a split leather backing covered with a layer of polyurethane (hence the term "PU leather") that is applied to the surface and then embossed. This material does not respond to other "Leather Care" treatments and requires a very different care product and treatment. Polyurethane coatings are sensitive to oils and waxes. Classic leather care products are oil or wax based products which damage these coatings. PU leather is very sensitive in skin and hair-contact areas. In such areas, the PU leather starts cracking and makes the area sticky. Therefore, regular cleaning and maintenance is very important. Especially contact areas to skin and hair should regularly be cleaned and protected with PU Protector. Already damaged PU coatings (matt, sticky, rough or cracked) can rarely be repaired. Mostly the PU leather has to be replaced by an upholsterer.
Application instructions are clearly stated on the back of the bottle.
